ST. GEORGE, Utah – The UT Arlington women's tennis team wrapped up the second ever Western Athletic Conference Fall Invitational on Saturday from the Trailblazer Tennis Courts on the campus of Utah Tech.
Tasnime Ahamout,
Sofia Selle and
Vanja Cado made the trip, representing the Mavericks in Utah.
In the singles quarterfinals, Ahamout fell to Tarleton State's Emma Persson 2-6, 0-6 while
Sofia Selle fell to Tarleton State's Maria Castano 4-6, 3-6.
In the doubles semifinals, the duo of Ahamout and Cado fell to Abilene Chistian's A. Kli and Masha Vrsalovic 6-3, 0-6, 0-1 (5-10).
In the singles consolation rounds, Selle defeated ACU's Alice Klinteby 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) while Ahamout fell to Utah Tech's Maya Inouye 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8).
Ahamout and Cado fell in the doubles third place match to Utah Tech's Mariana Zurita and Inouye 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 0-1 (11-13).
Selle dropped her fifth place match in singles action to Utah Tech's Inouye 6-4, 1-6, 0-1 (6-10) while Cado fell in the seventh place match to ACU's Klinteby 2-6, 6-3, 0-1 (6-10).
UTA returns to action in two weeks for their final tournament of the fall season when they travel to San Marcos for the States Up Slam, hosted by Texas State beginning on Saturday, Nov. 1, and wraps up on Sunday, Nov. 2.
