CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas-Arlington freshman Alberto Agis pushed his win streak to six matches and remained undefeated in singles play, but it wasn't enough as Nebraska edged past the Mavericks 4-3 Friday morning at the HEB Invitational in Corpus Christi.
Nebraska claimed the first point with wins at the top and third doubles flights. Sandy Farquharson and Josey Trimmier dropped an 8-4 decision to Reckewey and Posch at the top flight while Niels Buksik and Ian Vazquez were defeated 8-6 at the No. 3 position.
Agis extended his win streak to six matches and remains a perfect 6-0 at No. 4 singles with his straight set victory over Nebraska's Marcus Karner. Diego Mattar earned a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the No. 3 position and Ian Vazquez rounded out the scoring for UTA with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Joerg Barthal at the No. 5 position.
Nebraska's Gerhard Posch clinched the match for the Cornhuskers with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win over Sandy Farquharson at the top singles flight.
Texas-Arlington will continue action at the 14-team HEB Invitational through the weekend.
