PETRINO NAMED SLC CO-HITTER OF THE WEEK

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington junior Autumn Petrino was named the Southland Conference Co-Hitter of the Week for the week of April 18, the league office announced today. Petrino shares the honor with Texas San Antonio's Stacey Gillespie.
Petrino's honor is the first offensive award for the Lady Mavs, while Lauren Hebert was named the Pitcher of the Week on March 1.
The junior led the Lady Mavericks to a two-games-to-one series win over visiting Stephen F. Austin, batting .714 on the weekend. Petrino doubled with two out to drive in the first run of Saturday's opener and finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored. She was 2-for-2 in the nightcap and 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's finale.
Petrino (Rowlett, Texas) is hitting .299 on the season with a team-best 10 doubles.
Texas-Arlington will close out regular season action April 23-24 when it plays host to Texas-San Antonio for a three-game SLC series at Allan Saxe Field. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. with Sunday's rubber game slated for 1 p.m.
