ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis team defeated #67 Cornell, 4-3, Monday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.

The Mavericks (6-2) opened the day winning two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point.

In singles play, Cornell jumped out to an early lead, winning three matches at the two, four and six positions.

Texas-Arlington senior Sandy Farquharson responded by defeating Brett McKeon, 6-3, 6-3, at the number one position. Still down by one point, both Daniel Omana and Ian Vazquez rallied to win three-set matches at the number three and five positions, respectively. Omana bested Nick Brunner, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, while Vazquez fought back after losing the first set to beat Kyle Dropplet, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3.

The Mavericks will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to take part in the Boise State Invitational. The four-day tournament will be hosted by Boise State University.
