TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts took advantage of a Maverick error in the fifth inning to plate five unearned runs in helping keep UT-Arlington winless in mid-week contests with a 13-1 victory Tuesday evening at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
ORU (11-11) got the inning started with one out as Brian Agualiar reached on a fielding error by the second baseman. Brandon Duffy followed with a single to left before a flyout to left for the second out. The Golden Eagles then got RBI singles from Jake Kahaulelio and Andy Bouchie and Tim Torres walked to load the bases. Pat Warfle followed with an RBI hit by pitch before Chad Rothford drove in a pair of runs with a single back through the box.
UTA (11-16) got on the board in the fourth inning as Adam Moore doubled into the gap in left center and Robby Winn drew a one-out walk. After a wild pitch moved Moore to third, Kyle Rudy drove in a run with a single to center on a 3-0 pitch.
The Golden Eagles put the game away in the sixth as Bouchie ripped a three-run home run to left field.
The offensive onslot continued for ORU in the seventh as Rothford delivered a sol home run to right and Duffy and Kelly Minissale collected RBI singles.
Kyle Gainley got the start for the Mavs and was impressive in his pre-determined four innings of work. Gainely allowed three hits and struck out one.
Ryan Martin (0-1) took the loss as he allowed five unearned runs on four hits with one walk and one hit batter in one inning of work. Chance Chapman (1-0) picked up the victory in relief as he allowed no runs on four hits in 3.1 innings.
Daniel Rieder led the Mavs offense with three hits.
The Mavs return to the diamond this weekend as they travel to take on Stephen F. Austin for a key Southland Conference matchup. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. in Nacogdoches.
