ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis team fell to #65 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in the SLC regular-season finale at the UTA Tennis Center. The loss dropped the Mavericks into a three-way tie for firstplace, and they will now share the 2006 SLC Regular Season Title with the Islanders and Southeastern Louisiana.

TAMU-CC (11-11, 5-1 SLC) started off quick winning two of the three doubles points from the Mavericks. Texas-Arlington (10-7, 5-1 SLC) was able to win at the number three position as junior Manuel Gonzalez and Javier Herrera defeated Jan Cingel and Jose Ycaza, 9-8.

In singles play, the Islanders won in straight sets at the number one and three positions. The other four matches had gone the maximum three sets. TAMU-CC was able to take three of those, with senior Niels Buksik being the only Maverick to win in singles play. Buksik defeated Sharon Henselijn, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, at the number six position.

The Mavericks have qualified for the SLC Tournament which they will host at the UTA Tennis Center, April 28-30. Texas-Arlington will be the three seed and will open up on Friday.

The Mavericks will be back in action Wednesday, when they travel to take on crosstown-rival SMU. First-serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Haggar Tennis Stadium in Dallas.
