ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas-Arlington men's tennis team defeated #2-seeded Southeastern Louisiana, 4-1, Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2006 Southland Conference tournament at the UTA Tennis Center.

Texas-Arlington (12-9) got off to a fast start winning the doubles point.

In singles play, the Mavericks won at number one, two and three singles to clinch the match. Senior Sandy Farquharson defeated Haris Huremovic, 6-4, 6-2, at the number one position. Junior Daniel Omana defeated Matthieu Leboucher, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Diego Mattar beat Ilie Babinciu, 6-4, 6-4, at the number two position to clinch the match for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks will be back in action Sunday when they host #4-seeded Texas-San Antonio. First-serve is set for 3 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
