NATCHITOCHES, La. - A night of steady rain has delayed the start of day two of the 2006 BellSouth Southland Conference Softball Tournament Saturday.
Saturday's schedule has been pushed back two hours from the original start time. Top-seed Texas-San Antonio will face McNeese State at 1 p.m. The defending tournament champion Cowgirls dropped a 2-1 decision to UT Arlington Friday afternoon.
The UT Arlington-Texas State game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
UT Arlington (30-20) reached the 30-win plateau for the third time in the past 13 years with the come-from-behind 2-1 win over McNeese State Friday.
A win by UTA would propel the Mavericks deeper into the winners bracket where they would face the UTSA-McNeese State winner at approximately 8:30 p.m. The loser of the UTA-TXST game would return to the field immediately afterwards for a 6 p.m. start.
Sophomore pitcher Laura Jones (11-5) is the expected starter against Texas State. She allowed one run (unearned) in 10 innings to defeat the Bobcats 2-1 at Allan Saxe Field on April 15.
