SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT LOUISIANA TECH

RUSTON, La. - UT Arlington softball dropped both games of its double header at Louisiana Tech Wednesday. The Mavs lost their first game, 6-5, and fell, 5-1, in the night cap.

Senior Courtni Anderson led UTA on the day going 3-for-7 scoring one run and driving in two others. Junior Laura Jones and freshman Cara Hulme combined to strike out 11 on the day.

After three scoreless innings in the first game UTA took a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Tech cut the Mavs lead to one with a single run in the bottom of the fourth and added two more runs in the sixth to go ahead by one (3-2).

In the seventh UTA pulled ahead 5-3 with three runs, but Tech answered with three runs of its own for the one run win.

In the second game Louisiana Tech got on the board first, 1-0, off a sacrifice fly in the third. UTA answered to tie the score 1-1 on Dee Jay Nelson's 15th career home run. Tech added four runs over the next three innings while holding the Mavs scoreless for the 5-1 win.

UTA will return to action on Friday when it kicks off the UTA Round Robin Tournament against Prairie View A&M at 4 p.m. at the Allan Saxe Field. Games begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the second day of action.
