UTA Softball’s Kara Dill, Elizabeth Mason Begin 2026 Professional Seasons

DURHAM, N.C. & ATLANTA, Ga. Following a record-setting 2026 campaign, the UT Arlington softball program will once again be represented on a professional stage this summer as head coach Kara Dill and assistant coach Elizabeth Mason coach and compete in professional softball leagues across the country.

UTA enjoyed one of the most successful offensive seasons in program history, setting the school record in home runs in a season while leading the Western Athletic Conference in the category as well (59).

Dill will begin her first season as head coach of the AUSL (Athletes Unlimited Softball League) Blaze after serving as associate coach with the team last summer. Based in Durham, North Caroline, the Blaze open their season June 9-11 against the Portland Cascade.

"Having a home base in Durham, North Carolina, has given us a unique opportunity to connect with our fans and become part of the community," said Dill, "Our veteran players have established a strong foundation, and the addition of some of the nation's top college draftees has created an exciting mix of leadership and young talent."

"From day one, our players and staff have been committed to building the chemistry and trust needed to compete consistently throughout the season. There's tremendous excitement around what the AUSL is creating, and I'm grateful to be part of the Blaze organization and this league's growth."

While helping lead the Mavericks during the collegiate season, Mason will return to the field as a player this summer with the Atlanta Smoke of the Professional Softball League (PSL).

The PSL launches its inaugural season in 2026, with the Atlanta Smoke beginning spring training in Puerto Rico from June 8-10 before opening regular season play against the KC Diamonds from June 12-14.

"I'm looking forward to more teams, a bigger league which ultimately also means growth for the game." said Mason, "I'm excited to see the competition we're up against this season. Compared to last year, there's a lot more players around for spring training which means more competition, so it's been fun to get to know some new faces."
