Box Score

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington is in the midst of its worst losing streak in 23 years as the Mavericks dropped their ninth straight ballgame, 10-2, to Baylor Tuesday evening at Clay Gould Ballpark. The Mavs started the 1984 season 0-9.

The Bears (16-11) got on the board in the first inning as Aaron Miller started a two-out rally with a walk and went to third on Tim Jackson's double to left center. After a walk to Chase Gerdes, Matt Sodolak drove in a pair of runs through the left side before Gerdes was caught up between second and third for the final out.

BU's offense was back it in the second as Ben Booker delivered an RBI double to left center and Beamer Weems had a sacrifice fly to center field on a great sliding catch from Collin Garner.

The lead grew in the fourth as Shaver Hansen walked and Booker delivered an opposite field home run down the left-field line.

UTA (9-19) got on the board in the fourth as Kyle Rudy sparked a two-out rally with a single to left field. Leo Radkowski followed with a single up the middle and Logan Batlle walked to load the bases. Garner plated the runner with a walk of his own on a 3-2 pitch.

The Bears got a pair of runs back in the sixth as they took advantage of a Maverick error to push across two-unearned runs on a single through the left side off the bat of Paul Miles.

The Mavs added a run in the seventh as RJ Harris drew a walk and went to third on Danny Slinkman's chopper over the head of the first baseman. Mitch Putman plated Harris with a sacrifice fly to right field.

BU reached double figures in the eighth as they got a pinch-hit RBI single from Kenton Gedwed and a sacrifice fly from Jackson.

William Draper (1-0) picked up the victory in relief as he pitched two hitless innings with two strikeouts. Kendal Carrillo (0-2) took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits in one inning.

The Mavs return to the diamond this weekend as they open a Southland Conference series at Sam Houston State. The series gets under Friday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. SHSU Baseball Complex.
