ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington head baseball coach Mike Trapasso has announced the addition of Caleb Westfall to the Mavericks' coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Westfall arrives in Arlington following two seasons at the University of South Carolina, where he served as a graduate assistant coach and assistant director of player development while working under College Baseball Hall of Fame coach Paul Mainieri.

"We're excited to have Caleb join our staff," said Head Coach Mike Trapasso. "He will be a great fit for our program. He's a grinder that will help us in several areas. We are lucky to have him. Mav Up!"

In Columbia, Westfall worked extensively with the Gamecocks' hitters and infielders while helping oversee daily player development. His responsibilities included creating scouting reports on opposing pitchers, assisting with defensive positioning through advanced analytics, coordinating practice plans, and supporting recruiting efforts. He also collaborated with South Carolina's analytics and player development staff using TrackMan, Edgertronic, TruMedia and Synergy technology to enhance player evaluation and game preparation.

Westfall helped South Carolina assemble one of the nation's top transfer portal classes following the 2025 season while assisting with on-campus recruiting visits and offensive game planning.

Prior to joining the Gamecocks, Westfall spent the 2023-24 academic year at Sulphur High School in Louisiana, where he coached hitters, infielders and outfielders while helping develop multiple Division I prospects. He also coordinated the program's camps and taught World Geography.

Westfall's coaching experience began at LSU, where he spent five years as a student manager for one of college baseball's premier programs. During his time in Baton Rouge, he assisted with practice organization, offensive and defensive skill instruction, team travel logistics and baseball camps while working alongside the Tigers' coaching staff.

Known for his communication skills and tireless work ethic, Westfall brings a high-energy approach to player development and daily operations.

A native of Louisiana, Westfall earned his bachelor's degree in sport administration with a business minor from LSU in 2023 before completing a master's degree in sport and entertainment management from the University of South Carolina in 2026.
