AGIS EARNS FIRST CAREER SLC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

ARLINGTON, Texas - Junior Alberto Agis earned his first Aeropostale Southland Conference Player of the Week Honor of his career today as announced by the conference office. Sophomore Sara Pesic was named to the honorable mention list for the women's team this week after posting a 2-0 record last week in SLC play.

Agis helped UTA to a third place finish at the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Tournament this past weekend. Agis picked up points in the first two matches 6-1 6-2 over Idaho and 6-1 6-3 over No. 62 Central Florida.

The Mavs lost their only match of the tournament to host No. 16 Boise State on Saturday. Agis won his first set but eventually fell 6-3 1-6 7-10 to Piotr Dilaj in the No. 3 singles slot. The whole team rebounded on Sunday to down Ball State, 5-2, for third place. Agis won easily 6-1 6-1 in his singles match and teamed up with Dmitry Minkin in the No. 2 doubles slot to secure the doubles point 8-4.

UTA will return to SLC action as they welcome UT Pan American to the UTA Tennis Center at noon on Thursday. The women's team will also play host to UTPA starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
