CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi left hander Will Norman held the UT Arlington offense to just two hits and one unearned run and the Islanders got a pair of home run in defeating the Mavs 5-1 Friday afternoon at Chapman Field.

Norman (5-8) was spotting all three of his pitches all day and was helped out by numerous hard hit balls that were hit right at the outfielders. He finished the game with eight strikeouts and just one walk in his sixth complete game of the season.

TAMUCC (26-29, 11-18 SLC) got on the board in the first inning as Chase Williams delivered a solo home run to left field.

The Islanders added to their lead in the second as a pair of hits from David Williams and Martin Parra preceded a three-run home run from Josh Plumaj.

The Mavs (13-39, 4-25 SLC) scored its lone run in the sixth inning as Kyle Rudy reached on a two-base throwing error by the shortstop and scored on Danny Slinkman's groundout to the right side.

TAMUCC added an unearned run in the seventh on a dropped fly ball in the outfield.

Nathan Long (2-8) took the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

David Masters and Leo Radkowski collected the only two hits in the game.

The Mavs and Islanders close out the 2007 season tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
