DENTON, Texas - Junior Klara Jagosova advanced to the finals at the Mean Green Invitational after defeating teammate Monika Hadvigerova 6-2 4-6 1-0 on Saturday.
Hadvigerova defeated Priscilla Villemond of Tyler Junior College 6-0 6-2 to advance and face Jagosova. The pair started day-two with an 8-3 win over Texas Tech's Ingrid Ballus and Kerryn Potgeiter in doubles competition to advance to Sunday's finals.
Sophomore Sofya Lifanova advanced in the consolation bracket with a 6-3 6-3 win over Ballus.
The Mavs closed out action at the Mean Green Invitational on Sunday. Jagosova fell to SMU's Natalia Bubien 6-7 0-1 after winning the first set 6-2. Lifanova lost to Catalina Cruz from North Texas 6-7 1-6. Doubles pair Hadvigerova and Jagosova lost 1-8 to Janet Durham and Kelsy Garland from Texas Tech.
THe Mavs next competition will be the Rice Invitational Sept. 21-23 in Houston, Texas.
