ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team will compete at two events this week. Four Mavericks head to Fort Worth, Texas, for the TCU Invite, also listed as the Battle for the Boot JAE Foundation Open, Thursday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct. 25, at TCU's Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Two others travel to Clarksville, Tenn., for the UAC Fall Invite, Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25.
Junior Nahia Echaide Gonzalez and sophomores Diana Kaibara, Sofia Selle and Tasnime Ahamout will represent UTA at TCU. Sophomore Flora Farkaslaki and freshman Maria Isabel Suarez make up the Clarksville group.
The Mavericks come in off the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Waco, where Farkaslaki opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-4 win over SFA's Juliane Koschinski to advance to the round of 32. Selle, Ahamout and Suarez also competed in singles. In doubles, Selle and Farkaslaki paired up, as did Suarez and Ahamout, and both teams moved on to consolation play.
The weekend gives the Mavericks a chance to build on that experience against a wider field in both singles and doubles, with Farkaslaki and Suarez in Tennessee and the rest of the group in Fort Worth.
