SOFTBALL ADDS TERI LYLES AND BRITTANY SWATSELL TO 2010 ROSTER

Dec. 8, 2008

Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington head softball coach Debbie Hedrick announced the signings of high school products Teri Lyles and Brittany Swatsell to National Letters of Intent.

"Both of these young ladies are great additions to our program and I'm very excited to have them join our family here at the University of Texas at Arlington," said Hedrick.

Swatsell comes to UT Arlington from South Grand Prairie High School where she played club softball with the Texas Elite Gold Team under the direction of Howard Bancroft. Swatsell's solid arm and big bat will add depth to the Mavericks outfield next season.

A four-year starter at Keller High School, Teri Lyles was named the 2008 MVP Offensive Player of District 5A, 2008 MVP of Keller High School, and was a first-team all-district selection as a sophomore.

The newly-signed Maverick finished her junior campaign with a .407 batting average, .500 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base percentage. In her three-year pitching career at Keller High School, Lyles has recorded 88 strikeouts in 441 batters faced, has allowed only 25 walks and 65 hits.

"Teri is a strong pitcher with great speed and movement on her ball. She has a strong bat, so she will be a great addition to our offense. She is also very versatile and can play second base, shortstop and the outfield as well," added Hedrick.

Lyles and Swatsell are the first players to be added to the 2009 roster.
