MAVERICKS CONTINUE INDOOR SEASON AT TEXAS A&M

ARLINGTON, Tx. - The UTA men?fs and women?fs track and field teams return to action this weekend as they travel to the Texas A&M Invitational Friday and Saturday February 13 and 14. This meet is the last one before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships the following weekend.

Other teams competing include Texas A&M, Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Miami (w), Northwestern State, Rice, Sam Houston, SFA, SMU, Texas A&M?]Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, Texas State, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, UT?]Pan American, and UTEP.

The meet begins Friday at 5 p.m. with both running and field events. Saturday?fs action begins at 1 p.m.

The Mavericks did not compete last weekend, but are coming off a solid performance at the Houston Indoor Invitational where many athletes posted season bests.

Cordero Gray posted a personal season best time of 6.79 in the 60 meters while Jarid Vaughan did the same with a mark of 6.83. Adolphus Jones finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,969. He was third in the long jump and fourth in the shot put on the second day of the event.

Idilio Campos continued his strong indoor season with a second place finish in the mile run in a time of 4:15.21. UTA also continued to place well in the pole vault as Jarid Tuel finished third with a vault of 4.90 meters (16-00.75) and Wade Hayes was sixth at 4.75 meters (15-07.00).

On the women's side, Jasmine Walls continued to run well with a third place finish in the 200 meters (24.97) and a fourth in the 60 meters (7.60). Both of those marks were season bests.

Antonia Hopkins had a pair of top 10 finishes as she was eighth in the 200 meters (25.41) and 10th in the 400 meters (58.80). Amanda McMahon was eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:21.82).
