The Mavs struggled to find their swing until the bottom of the fourth where they produced a pair of runs on three consecutive hits, first by Courtney Zink followed by Rebecca Collom and Samantha Chumchal. UTA's runs came after Hulme reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Zink from third and Collom reached home plate on a ground out by Kelsey Kaiser. The inning ended following a Whitney Simpson ground out to the shortstop.

UTA 1, TAMU-CC 8
Game one of a scheduled double-header against the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi wasn't as successful as the Mavericks would of liked as they dropped an 8-1 decision at Allan Saxe Field. Junior Cara Hulme fell to 12-13 on the season after pitching a complete game, allowing eight runs on 10 hits while striking out three batters.
The Islanders quickly pounced on the Mavs in the top of the first scoring a run after Margo Hurdt ripped a single up the middle, driving in Andrea Simancas.

The Mavericks lone run came in the bottom half of the frame on a controversial call which was challenged by the Islander's head coach and discussed by both coaches and umpires for 10 minutes. With runners on first and second, Heather Fortenberry hit into a fielder's choice that got Kelsey Kaiser out going to third but a bad throw to first sent the ball into the Mavericks dugout, advancing the runners a base and scoring Stinson.
The Islanders went on to score four runs in the top of the sixth and a pair in the seventh for an 8-1 win. Senior Jaimee Stinson led the Mavericks offensively recording a pair of hits and a run scored. Stinson was honored prior to the game in senior day for her hard work and dedication to the Maverick's program.
