Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington recorded a 6-0 win and a 5-2 victory in a double-header match-up against Navarro Junior College Thursday evening at Allan Saxe Field.
In game one, freshman Callie Collins led the Mavericks to a 6-0 win, pitching six innings while striking out six. Collins recorded a strikeout in all but two innings of action.
Sophomore Teri Lyles closed out the Bulldogs in the seventh, recording the final three outs.
As a team, the Mavs scattered six hits to Navarro's four.
Lyles got the start in game two but was pulled after giving up a pair of hits to the Bulldogs and was replaced by freshman Alexis Cantu.
Senior Rebecca Collom gave the Mavericks a 2-0 advantage in the bottom first following a homer over the left field wall.
UTA plated a solo run in the second, and a pair of runs in the third frame thanks to back-to-back doubles by Cantu and Taylor Zink to left center.
Cantu took care of business on the mound, allowing only two runs on three hits and striking out six.
The Mavericks conclude their fall schedule with a double-header Thursday, October 21 against McLennan Junior College. Game times are set for 4 and 6 p.m.
