UTA signs two to National Letter of Intent

Nov. 16, 2010

Arlington, Tex. - UT Arlington head men's basketball coach Scott Cross announced Tuesday the signing of Jorge Redmon and Anthony Walker to national letters of intent to play basketball for the Mavericks beginning in the fall of 2011.

"We are extremely excited about this recruiting class," Cross said. "These are two great additions to our program both on and off the court. They each have a bright future ahead of them in our program and we look forward to watching them develop in the years to come."

Redmon is the leading returning scorer in Region XIV among junior college players. He averaged 16.6 points per game last season at Lon Morris in Jacksonville, Texas. He led the Bearcats in scoring and 3-point shooting. He finished fifth in the league in scoring last year. Following the season he was named second team all-conference.

He attended Sam Houston High School in Arlington where he was a two-time first team all-district performer.

Walker, at 6-9, 210 pounds, is the 21st-ranked player in Texas by TexasHoops.com. The three-star rated prospect by Rivals.com, is from Johnson High School in San Antonio where last year he averaged 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game.

He was an all-district performer in 2009-10 and was picked as a "Player to Watch" by the San Antonio Express News before this season began.

He chose UT Arlington over, Oregon, Ole Miss and Texas Tech among others.
