ARLINGTON - Texas - Cara Hulme picked up her eighth win as UT Arlington finished off Central Arkansas 5-2 Sunday afternoon to sweep the series.
Hulme started the game strong, retiring the first six batters. She ran into a hiccup in the third inning, allowing a two run home run to Bears designated player Shayleen Ristau.
Other than that home run, Hulme shined going four innings giving up two runs and striking out six while walking two.
Teri Lyles closed the game out for the final three innings giving up no hits while striking out two.
After scoring three runs in three innings, the Maverick offense cooled off, but scored just enough to win. Heather Fortenberry had a game high three hits, finishing 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
No Maverick had multiple RBIs as five different players picked up an RBI. UTA (15-9, 6-2) out hit Central Arkansas (9-15, 1-5) 9-2. The Mavericks didn't have much power however, with only one of their 9 hits going for extra bases, a double from catcher Samantha Chumchal.
UTA stays at home this week, hosting the Baylor Bears Tuesday for a double header. The first game will start at 4 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
