Arlington, Texas - For months, the UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams have had circles Saturday, March 20th on their schedule as the start of the outdoor season.
Now they will have to start their engines one day earlier as the college portion of the fourth annual Horned Frog Invitational has been moved to Friday afternoon at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth and the TCU campus.
A strong cold front is expected to move through the North Texas area overnight Friday into Saturday morning and meet officials decided to take advantage of the 70-degree weather Friday.
"I think it is a great idea," UTA head coach John Sauerhage said. "It's a good call on their part to get the meet in and run in good condidtions.
"We had a good indoor season and I am looking for us to get off to a good start in the outdoor campaign," Sauerhage added. "This will be a good opportunity for us to see where we are at as we head into our meet next Saturday and the remainder of the season."
All college events will take place on Friday. Competition will begin on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the women's hammer throw.
