ARLINGTON - Texas - Freshman pitcher Teri Lyles was roughed up for eight runs in six innings as UTA dropped the final game of a three game series to Texas State Wednesday afternoon.
Lyles (5-3) had just come off a dominating performance against the Bobcats on Tuesday. Wednesday she had no such luck as Texas State scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach.
McKenzie Baack of Texas State did most of the damage. She went 2-for-4 with a home run and a game high four RBIs.
Lyles did her part to back her own effort as she led UTA with three hits. The Mavericks managed eight hits, but couldn't get enough base runners across the plate. UTA left 10 players on base.
Next up for UTA is Southeastern Louisiana who come to Arlington for a three game series March 6 and 7.
