San Marcos, Texas - In their second game of the Southland Conference Tournament, No. 3 UT Arlington (27-24) dropped a 10-1 decision in five innings to No. 2 Texas State (26-24) at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.
Teri Lyles (14-14) took the loss for the Mavs, pitching 4.0 innings, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits.
UTA's solo run in the fifth inning came off the bat of Kelsey Kaiser who recorded her second homer of the season. Kaiser led the Mavericks offense finishing the game 2-for-2.
Texas State did their damage in the first two innings, scoring seven runs in the first and three in the second.
UTA continues tournament action tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. with a meeting against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Islanders dropped their first game of the tournament to McNeese State 6-0.
The Mavericks and Islanders match up marks the first time in SLC Tournament history. UTA's last meeting against A&M-Corpus Christi was at Corpus Christi where they lost a 4-3 decision.
