ARLINGTON, Texas -

Jasmine Walls ended her regular season Southland Conference career with dominating performances in both the 100 and 200 meters. Walls won both finals with a time of 11.56 in the 100 and 23.36 in the 200.

"Yes, this is exactly the way I want to go out," Walls, who finishes her regular season Southland career with 10 indiviudal conference championships, said. "I ran my fastest times for conference meets so I was happy with it."

Earlier in the day, Walls ran the first leg of the 4x100 relay and helped that team get second place in that event in a time of 45.72 which was a season best for the Mavericks.

Cordero Gray set a personal best in the 100 meters with a mark of 10.16 but that was only good enough for third in Sunday's finals.

That mark was also the second fastest in school history however, behind Elston Cawley's 10.14 mark set in 2000. It was 10/100ths of a second faster than his previous personal best which was set twice previously.

The same thing happened to the junior in the 200 meters as he ran a personal best of 20.73 but also finished third in the finals.

"It's bittersweet because I wanted to win," Gray said. "I'll take it though. I can still improve my time for the regionals and nationals."

In the team competition, the UTA women's team finished second with 102 points while the men finished fourth with 94.5 points. The men finished fourth with 94.5 points. Stephen F. Austin's won the women's title with a Southland Conference record 201.5 points while UTSA captured the men's title with 148 points.

Aundrea Williams probably had the biggest smile on his face as he finished first in the 400 Meter Dash finals with a time of 51.39. It was Williams first Southland Championship championship.

"It was a big win," Williams said. "It's my senior year and I finished third last year. I was trying to come back on our home turf and get the title.

"The fans were behind me and it was a big win for us."

While Gray finished third in the sprints, his relay team won the 4X100 relay with a time of 40.13.

"We did real well and we'll take the win," Gray said.

Dwight Robinson ran very strong and finished first in the Men 800 Meter Run final with a time of 1:51.

Esther Abuto ran well in the 800 meters finishing second. Abuto would of won the event except Dana Mecke of UTSA had a career day with a time of 2:08.36, just 25/100th of a second off the meet record.

Antonia Hopkins continued the strong run by the women as she also finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 54.25.

DeAndrea Smith, Brittany Culbertson, Antonia Hopkins and Megan Turner captured the 4x400 relay in the final event of the meet for the Mavericks in a time of 3:41.14.

Wade Hayes just missed finishing first in the pole vault, finishing with a final height of 4.92 meters good enough for second place.

Jennifer Brown finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.89 meters.

Jerono Patrober finished well in the Women 5000 Meter Run final with a time of 17:37, which was good enough for third place.
