ARLINGTON, Tex. - Charae Grosser posted nine kills and three blocks, but Texas State hit .341 Wednesday night in a 3-0 win over UT Arlington at Texas Hall.
The Bobcats finished with an attack percentage of .297 or better in all three sets on their way to a 25-14, 25-21, 25-19 win.
UT Arlington, meanwhile, struggled with errors all match, hitting just .085. That included a -.029 percentage in the first set.
"I wish I could say something better, but we were just very poor in many phases of the game," UT Arlington head coach Erin Clute said. "We wanted to be very focused on being offensively competitive and low-error. I think we were extremely high-error in many areas. It wasn't just one hitter, so it was difficult to stop the bleeding."
The Mavericks (7-12, 3-2) did get a strong performance from Grosser, who hit .467. Tara Frantz added 12 kills.
Defensively, the Mavs had no answer for the Texas State onslaught.
"I would definitely say blocking is what we struggled with tonight," Frantz said. "We passed well, but on offense we definitely needed to pick up the kill production. I don't think it was anything they did. I thought it was definitely more on us."
Alicia Shaffer led UTA with eight digs. Amanda Aguilera added seven.
Amari Deardorff and Lindy DeGeare paced the Texas State offense with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
UT Arlington plays again Saturday afternoon when it opens a four-match road trip with a 1 p.m. match at Central Arkansas.
