AMES, Iowa - Clayton Vaughn and Juan Lewis turned in season-best times in the 60m and 400m, respectively, highlighting UT Arlington's final day at the Iowa State Classic.
Vaughn's time of 6.76 in the finals heat of the 60m secured fourth place in the event. Cordero Gray finished third with a time of 6.73.
Gray was second in the preliminary round, clocking a 6.82. Vaughn was third in the prelims with a time of 6.84.
Lewis finished the 400m in a time of 47.62 to place seventh.
"Overall we have athletes competing at a high level as we head to the Southland Conference Indoor Championships in two weeks," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "Clayton Vaughn was especially impressive in setting a new personal record in the 60m final of 6.76."
Dwight Robinson didn't set a new personal best, but he did place 10th in the 800m with a time of 1:51.68.
On the women's side, Pamela Vinson finished fifth in the 60m with a time of 7.62. She was eighth in the preliminary heat, clocking a 7.65. Shannon Reynolds finished 18th in the event with a time of 7.70.
DeAndrea Smith's time of 57.44 in the 400m placed her 22nd.
