Arlington, Texas - After finishing the conference season with three straight victories, the UT Arlington men's tennis team earned a spot as the No. 3 seed in the SLC Tournament. The Mavericks closed out the regular-season with a 12-9 overall and 3-2 league record.
The Mavericks will be led by junior David Subirats who was a first-team all-conference selection at the No.5 position. Subirats earned the recognition after finishing the season with a perfect 5-0 league mark.
Along with Subirats, UTA's freshmen have proved to be valuable as they turned in good performances in league play. Nicolas Moreno and Lucas Leppin wrapped up their seasons with 3-1 and 3-2 marks in conference.
In doubles, senior Brieuc Hamon found a good connection with freshman Leppin. They started the year off strong by winning their first eight matches and concluded their season with the best Mavs' record of 12-7 and 3-2 in conference.
UT Arlington opens the SLC Tournament with a first round match up against No. 2 seed UTSA on Saturday, April 30 at 9 a.m. The Mavericks last won the tournament title in 2006 and lead the league with six.
