Waco, Texas - UT Arlington split its second day of play at the Getterman Classic with a win over Wichita State and a loss to Iowa.
The Mavericks (3-1) started their second day of the tournament with a 6-1 victory of the Wichita State Shockers.
The Shockers scored their only run in the second inning by a throwing error from UTA. The Mavericks bounced back scoring three runs in the second and three in the fifth inning.
Designated hitter, Hillary Steed went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Junior Teri Lyles pitched three innings allowing one hit and no walks.
The Mavericks fell 1-0 to the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. UTA was only able to connect with four hits and no runs. Iowa's one run didn't come until the sixth inning when Megan Blank scored on a UT Arlington error.
UTA wraps up the Getterman Classic with a game against the Baylor Bears Sunday at 1 p.m.
