ARLINGTON, TEXAS - UT Arlington defeated the No. 65 Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles 5-2 at the UTA Tennis Center.
David Subirats and Yuaheni Yakauleu started doubles play at the No. 2 spot with a quick 8-2 victory over the Golden Eagles' Paulo Alvarado and Juan Escobar.
The Mavericks fell twice in singles play, but pushed each match to three games, forcing a tie breaker.
"The guys played great tennis," UT Arlington head coach Diego Benitez said. "Southern Mississippi is a big contender in Conference USA, so it's great to have this under our belt.
"We hope to continue playing big ball."
The men lost two Colombia University in a close 4-3 battle Saturday, but defeated Sacramento State 6-1 Sunday.
UTA won the doubles point againt the Colombia Lions, but fell in four of the single matches to lose.
The Mavericks game out strong Sunday winning all three doubles matches against Sacramento State to take an early 1-0 lead.
The men continued their success winning five of the six matches and grabbing another vicotry.
UT Arlington men's tennis will host the No. 62 Drake Bulldogs Monday at p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center
