ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball volunteered Saturday at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of North Texas walk on campus. The team worked the water station for the 5K that helped raise more than $118,000.
"We're getting involved with our community," sophomore pitcher Brittany May said Saturday. "There are tons of people out here, which is really awesome. It's really cool to see all these women come together over something that can happen to any one of us. It's cool that we can bond together and work together and do what we can to fight it."
Every Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with breast cancer research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.
Giving back to the community is a responsibility taken seriously by UT Arlington student-athletes. On Friday, members of the women's basketball team helped clean up neighboring yards after an afternoon storm ripped through Arlington.
