HOUSTON, Texas - A six-run second inning doomed UT Arlington in a 7-4 loss at Houston Baptist on Tuesday afternoon.
The Mavericks dropped to 14-19 with the loss and 6-5 in the all-time series with the Huskies. The programs faced off in Houston for only the second time in the series. HBU improved to 15-14.
The Huskies roughed up UTA starter Justin Schnedler for six runs in 1.1 innings, racking up six hits and taking advantage of two walks. The UT Arlington bullpen did a considerably better job, as five relievers allowed just one earned run for the remainder of the game.
Derek Miller was the only UTA player with multiple hits, going 2-5 with a run scored. Brady Cox had a two-run double in the Mavericks' three-run third inning.
The Mavericks return to Sun Belt Conference action with a three-game series at Georgia State beginning Friday. UTA is 6-6 in league play.
