Nov. 7, 2015

Final Stats

MONROE, La. - UT Arlington rode its momentum to complete a two-game road trip sweep, downing ULM 3-0 in Sun Belt play on Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Mavericks, taking all six sets during the Louisiana road swing, improved to 18-9 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Closing its road schedule, UTA went to 5-6 away from College Park Center. UTA ends the regular season next Sunday by hosting South Alabama at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.

After playing a close opening set, UTA found itself down early in the second 5-2. However, a 10-2 run by the Mavericks stole any momentum the Warhawks had in the match to propel UTA to a big Set 2 win. ULM continued to struggle offensively in the third and the Mavs capitalized to complete the sweep.

Player of the Match
Marisa Ingram led the Maverick block with five block assists, giving her eight overall in the two-game trip. The eight block assists put Ingram over the century mark for the season at 104, second for a freshman in Mavs' history.

Stat Leaders
The UTA front line accounted for 14 overall blocks, while ULM finished with just two. Madison Helt and Qiana Canete each reached double digits in digs. Helt finished with a team-high 14 digs, while Canete ended with 11. Canete also led the Mavericks defensively with nine kills.

Quotable

UTA Coach Diane Seymour's thoughts on the game:
"They played better as the match went on and I think that is an important thing to do and something we have talked about. In some aspects we wanted to improve on, defensively and blocking, we got better and better as the match went on. It held ULM out of sync and provides a lot of opportunities for us that didn't have to be kills for the hitters."

On avenging loss to ULM on Oct. 31:
"It is huge. Obviously we had a bad taste in our mouth and not performing well on our home court. I knew they had an ax to grind tonight and I'm very proud in our kids to step up and put it to them."

Senior Day and ending the season on a positive note:
"We want to keep building on what we have done this weekend. Two sweeps is a great feeling for us. Yes we want to send our seniors out on a good note, but it is important to stay on this high as we head into the tournament."

Up Next:
UT Arlington closes out its schedule on Senior Day against South Alabama at 1 p.m. at College Park Center. The Mavericks and Jaguars are meeting for the first time this season. UTA is 9-3 at CPC in 2015.
