ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington's men tennis entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings Tuesday morning at No. 63.

The Mavericks are currently 8-4 overall and are on a two-match winning streak after defeating No. 41 Penn on Friday.

"This is a major accomplishment for us," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "We have not been ranked in the last three years. The win against Penn and all other combined victories has allowed us to get national recognition."

Led by team captain Carlos Arbiza (7-1) and Johnathan Gonzalez (7-1), the Mavericks have become a force to be reckoned with this season.

"I am extremely proud of the effort of our guys," Benitez said. "They knew what they needed to do when they faced a ranked team, and we deserve to be up there in the rankings along with them."

The men are back in action Thursday at the UTA Tennis Center when they take on Texas-Pan American at 2 p.m.
