TN: Mavs set up for big weekend

ARLINGTON, Texas -
UT Arlington men's and women's tennis is back in action this weekend. The women host Sun Belt rival Texas State in their first conference match of the season, while the men head to Waco to take on No. 2 Baylor.


"We are looking forward to this weekends matches," UTA coach Diego Benitez said. "It will be a great test for both teams as the men take on a tough Baylor team and the women compete in their first conference match of the year."

The Mavs take on Texas StateMarch 28 at 11 a.m.at the UTA Tennis Center. UTA is currently 9-3 overall with a three-match winning streak after defeating UAB last weekend.

Texas State is currently 4-4 overall and 0-1 in conference, losing to South Alabama. The Bobcats haven't competed in a match in two weeks and are coming off a win from Missouri State.

"Texas State is always a competitive team," Benitez said. "Our girls are excited for their first sun belt match and i know will bring dedication and drive to every match."

The men's team heads to Waco to take on the Baylor BearsMarch 29 at 6 p.m.The No. 2 team in the nation is currently 14-3 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12, with multiple individuals ranked in the top 50.

"It will be a tough match for the men, but rankings haven't bothered them before and I don't it expect to bother them now,"Benitez said."They are playing a high level of tennis and have the confidence to compete with anyone right now."
