ARLINGTON, Texas -- UT Arlington senior Nina Villanueva and junior Mya Anderson were named to the Sun Belt All-Conference second team by College Sports Madness.
The duo were apart of a record-breaking season for the Mavericks that saw set new highs in batting average, runs, RBI, hits and walks.
"I am very pleased that Nina and Mya got the recognition on the amazing seasons they both had," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "Nina's bat might be one of the best we have had come through UT Arlington and after a year off, Mya did great in the designated player spot and I can't wait to see what she does next year."
Villanueva hit .408 in 2015 to achieve the second-best batting average in single-season history, while her career average of .363 is also second. The shortstop broke the single-season mark for runs scored with 52. Villanueva recorded 44 RBI to rank second for a season and was one short of the century mark for her career.
Anderson powered 13 home runs during the campaign to tie for second in UTA's single-season records. The designated player hit .331 in her junior season with 41 RBI, 47 hits and 33 runs scored.
