MIDLAND, Texas - The UT Arlington men's tennis team was able to bounce back from tough opening-round matchups to advance through the consolation bracket of the Midland Fall Invitational.
Pablo Colvee would be the lone finalist on the men's side as he reached Flight 2's consolation finals. Colvee defeated Abilene Christian's Jason Proctor in three sets and earned a win over Texas Tech's Carlos DiLaura to reach the final. However, he dropped a close match, 8-6, to Tulsa's Chase Gordon in the championship match.
Daniel Armengol made a run through the main draw's consolation bracket to reach the semifinals. Armengol defeated Sergio De Vilchz (Wichita State) and Johnny Goodwin (Texas) to reach the semis. His run came to an end against Boise State's Lewis Roskilly.
Jhonathan Gonzalez was the lone winner for UTA in the main draw's opening round. Gonzalez made quick work of Miroslav Herzan (Wichita State) to win 6-3, 6-3 before losing to Josh Page from San Diego.
The Mavericks return to the court on Friday at the Rice Invitational for a three-day tournament.
