ARLINGTON, Texas - The growth of the UT Arlington softball since head Kristie Fox took over nearly four years ago is immeasurable and the Mavs want you to be a part of it with the 2017 UTA Softball Winter All-Skills Camp.
"UTA Softball holds a relatively small number of camps per year and the total number of campers is capped at a small amount to allow for optimal instruction and interaction," assistant coach Camden Decker said.
The camp, hosted by members of the UTA softball program is set to take place Jan. 14 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field. Games will take place in the afternoon after specific drills and instruction at positions will be covered in the morning.
The All-Skills Camp is open to anyone between the ages of 13-18 ,exceptions can be made by contacting coach Decker. The cost per player is $175.
"We feel that our camps are a great value and a way for potential student-athletes to make an impression on our coaching staff," Decker said. "These camps are a great way for potential student athletes to meet and get to know us as coaches and people to help in their, as well as our assessment of the future of UTA Softball."
The Mavs are coming off the best years under Fox's reign and are entering the second full season with completed renovations at Allan Sax Field. Complementing new grand stands, a new field was laid complete with turf making up the inside foul lines and natural grass comprising the outfield. In addition to a new field, a new press box, clubhouse and indoor hitting facility were built. The clubhouse features locker rooms, showers, offices and areas for the players to relax.
Allan Saxe Field has played to host to a number of the top softball teams in the country including national powers of Arizona, Louisiana and Texas.
