ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington sports year was filled with upsets, championships, buzzer-beaters and memorable performances that will go down in Maverick history.

Leading up to the 2016-17 seasons beginning with UTA volleyball in August, UTA Athletics is making sure we do not forget the accomplishments of the past season. Running from June through August, we will be counting down the top-15 moments and performances with "Best of 2015-16" features.

Moment No. 15: Guanlao shoots up leaderboard on SBC final day
Teeing things off for the countdown, we look no further than the fairways of the Sun Belt Golf Championship in Miramar Beach, Fla. in April as Aaron Guanlao shot up the leaderboards.

Guanlao earned an eighth place finish in a loaded field, his second consecutive strong end in the tournament. The sophomore was 2-over-par in the third round of the Championship, following up a 6-under performance in the second, which was the second-lowest round of the day.

Freshman Tanner Gore posted UTA's lowest round on the final day with a 2-under 69 to finish tied with teammate Josh Radcliff in 15th.

"We're obviously disappointed by missing the top four," UTA coach Stuart Deane said after the Championship. "The guys showed great heart today battling a slow start, but remained patient and finished strong for the round."

"The rally was inspired by words of our senior Andrew Sirowy telling the guys to leave it all out on the course so 'I can play more golf for the Mavs.' Maverick Golf is in great hands with our returning players, and the future is bright."
