Postgame Quotes
UTA Head Coach Scott Cross
"I felt like our guys played the right way throughout the game. You could see they weren't thinking about themselves. They were thinking about making their teammates better. We moved the ball better and we played with a little more grit and toughness defensively. South Alabama is a team like Troy that can really go off at any given time. I thought our guys were locked in for the most part. Maybe the last five minutes, we got a little sloppy with our defense and didn't quite work as hard. That was once we had a double-digit lead and we let them back in the game. Their press bothered us a little. Overall, it was a great game.
"Jorge (Bilbao) played a great game. He absolutely played his tail off. Rebounding the way he did was huge for us. It was great to have Kevin Hervey back in the lineup. He scored efficiently and he made our guys better with his four assists and zero turnovers. Kaelon (Wilson) did a great job driving to the bucket, especially in the second half. He started off slow, but was able to get them in foul trouble. That made a big difference.
"Anytime you can get a win on ESPN, that is a positive thing for the program. We do want to grow this thing. If I was watching, I would want to be a part of the way our guys play. They play selfless, move the ball, play with speed and play with toughness and grit. I am glad we were able to get a win on national television."
UTA Forward Kevin Hervey
"It felt great to be back on the court (after missing the Troy game). Being out here with my teammates is really fun and I enjoy it a lot. I am really thankful. I know the value of getting rest. I should take care of myself a little better. I know my limits, but last week I kind of pushed myself to the brink, perhaps a little more than I should have. But, it's all good. I'm feeling good now. I'll do some rehab the next few days and get back to normal."
