Postgame Notes

  • UTA dropped to 12-4 on the season and 2-1 in the Sun Belt. The Mavericks return to action Saturday, January 14 at 4:15 p.m. (CST) in a Sun Belt Conference contest at Troy.
  • Texas State improved to 9-6 on the season and 2-1 in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 at South Alabama.
  • Texas State's starting lineup consisted of guards Bobby Conley, Ojai Black, Nijal Pearson and forwards Kavin Gilder-Tilbury and Immanuel King.
  • Kaelon Wilson, was UTA's first substitute off the bench at the 14:38 mark of the first half.
  • UTA trailed Texas State 40-39 at the half, marking the first time this season the Mavericks have faced a deficit after the first 20 minutes of a game.
  • UTA went 22:26 without committing a turnover. The Mavericks opened the game with four turnovers in the first 1:56, then didn't commit another until the 15:38 mark of the second half.
  • UTA's loss at Texas State was the Mavericks' first since a 67-71 setback at the University of Arkansas on Nov. 18. The Mavericks went 50 days without a loss.
  • UTA's loss at Texas State was also its first in Sun Belt Conference play this season. The Mavericks dropped to 2-1 in league play.
  • Kevin Hervey set a season high with 25 points at Texas State. The Arlington native previously scored 21 at North Texas and against Appalachian State. His career high is a 27-point performance last season at Rice.
  • UTA's loss at Texas State was the Mavericks' first against the Bobcats during the regular season after 10-straight wins. The loss also broke UTA's 5-game win streak in San Marcos.
