ARLINGTON, Texas -- Freshman infielder Boone Montgomery went 4-for-6 to help lead Team Bocchi to a game five 9-7 win over Team Smith in the finale of the Fall World Series, on Thursday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The rosters were drafted into a pair of teams for the five-game fall world series, coached by UTA assistants Fuller Smith and Joel Bocchi, and played over the last eight days. The series finished with each team earning two wins and the fourth game ending in a 4-4 tie on Wednesday. Team Bocchi, on account of the tiebreaker decided via the difference in walks, was awarded the win.

A native of Grapevine, Texas, Montgomery had three singles and a triple to pace the offensive attack for Team Bocchi. Omar Salinas, a first-team All-Sun Belt selection, added three hits, along with freshman catcher Justin Marino and senior infielder dynamo Easton Johnson. Phil Berthiaume, Seth Ballenger and Ty Sawka each added hits.

Team Smith was led by a three-hit performance from catcher Jakob Nunez and a two-hit game from Zac Cook. Nunez, who tripled off the base of the wall in left on Wednesday, had a double, two singles and a walk. Phil Childs, Christian Hollie and Noah Vaughan each added hits.

Brad Vassar, who shined in a win for Team Smith on Saturday morning, went 3.2 innings in the start on Thursday. Jud Kinzy and Logan Austin each worked in relief for Team Smith, with Kinzy getting six outs and Austin four. Dylan Schneider worked three innings in a start for Team Bocchi, with Nick Skeffington tossing three in relief. Jake Wilcox posted a shutout frame to earn the save, allowing just a hit.
