ARLINGTON, Texas - Each week, the UTA Athletic Department spotlights a Texas Trust Scholar-Athlete of the Week to showcase the excellence in academic achievement of its student-athletes. This week, we recognize Whitney Walton from UTA softball.
Walton was selected as a NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete during her freshman season, while starting in 59 games, primarily at shortstop.
In a stellar freshman campaign, Walton tied for fourth in UTA history in runs scored with 38 runs and sixth with 40 RBI.
