Postgame Notes
- UTA falls to 25-8 on the season. The Mavericks will find out their postseason fate Sunday afternoon - as the regular-season Sun Belt champions, UTA is assured of a berth into the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
- Texas State improved to 20-12 on the season and will play the winner of Troy vs. Georgia State in the Sun Belt Championship final on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ESPN2).
- Texas State starting lineup consisted of forwards Kavin Gilder-Tilbury and Immanuel King and guards Bobby Conley, Ojai Black and Nijal Pearson.
- Nathan Hawkins and Faith Pope were UTA's first substitute off the bench, emtering the game at the 13:58 mark of the first half.
- Junior forward Kevin Hervey scored 10 points against Texas State, giving him 1,057 points in his career. He surpassed John Shelton (1,048, 1965-69), Ronny Newton (1,050, 1976-80) and Mike Nau (1,052, 1964-67) for 19th on UTA's all-time scoring list.
- Junior forward Kevin Hervey scored 10 points against Texas State. He has scored in double-figures in 26-straight appearances (He missed the Troy game at Trojan Arena on Jan. 14) and 29 times this season.
- Hervey scored 10 points with 10 rebounds against Texas State. He has 16 double doubles this season and 25 in his career at UTA - the second-highest total in program history. Paul Renfro registered 29 from 1976-80.
- UTA has played Texas State in 3-straight Sun Belt Championship Tournaments and are 1-2 against the Bobcats in those game. Last season, UTA defeated Texas State 72-63 in the tournament quarterfinals. In 2015, UTA dropped a 68-62 first round decision.
- UTA out-rebounded Texas State 32-31, the first time the Mavericks have finished a game with more rebounds than their opponent and suffered a defeat this season.
