ARLINGTON, Texas -- Arizona State complete a perfect weekend in the Maverick Classic with a three-set sweep (14-25, 16-25, 21-25) over host UTA, on Sunday night at the College Park Center.
UTA (6-7) wrapped up a 1-2 weekend with the loss vs. Arizona State (10-2), earning a win on Saturday vs. Lamar but suffering losses vs. the Sun Devils, Houston Baptist and UC Davis. UCD also finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, sporting wins over HBU and Lamar, in addition to a four-set win over the Mavs.
The Sun Devils win the tournament by tiebreaker over UC Davis, with ASU's total score for the three matches 242-198 and UCD's total 242-199.
LEADING THE MAVS
UTA was paced offensively by a 10-kill, nine-dig effort from senior Qiana Canete. Kylie Jedlicka added five kills and five digs, with Kailyn Gilbreath leading the team with 23 assists, four digs and two kills. Madison McConnell had two kills, with Tessa Harfield sporting four kills. Senior Ashylynn Ford had three kills and four digs. Junior Libbie Vickers had a team-high 11 digs.

UTA returns to action on Friday, opening conference play with Troy at 6:30 p.m. CT at College Park Center. The game will be broadcast live on UTAMavs.com, with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours, calling the action.
SET ONE
Arizona State started strong with a 3-0 run before the Mavs got on the board. UTA couldn't sustain a multi-point run until a 3-0 spark to cut the ASU lead to 16-9. The Sun Devils answered out of the UTA run to pull away with a 4-0 stretch for a 21-9 lead, finishing off a 25-15 win.
SET TWO
UTA opened the scoring but fell behind after a pair of 3-0 runs from the Sun Devils. UTA cut the lead to 8-5 with a 3-0 stretch but mounted only one multi-point run the remaining of the set, with ASU's 3-0 run late stretching the lead to 22-13, finishing off a 25-15 win.
SET THREE
The Mavs started the scoring in the third but a 5-0 run saw ASU stretch its lead to 5-1. UTA collected rallies of 2-0 three times and 3-0 in the set. The Mavs tied it up at nine, 10, 11 and 13 but ASU used a late 4-0 run to pull away and earn a 25-21 win.
