DALLAS - UTA women's tennis took the quick trip to Dallas over the weekend for the SMU Invitational. This was the final tournament for the Lady Mavs before the ITA Texas Regional on Oct. 18.

The Mavericks were led by sophomore Momoka Horiguchi who advanced to her flight final after knocking off opponents from Houston and Middle Tennessee State. Horiguchi fell in the final to Eva Chivu from Sun Belt rival Georgia State.

Sophomore Almudena Boza advanced to the consolation final in her flight. She bounced back after a 3-set loss in the quarterfinals to Abidullina Adel-Byanu from Central Oklahoma.

The doubles pair of Almudena Boza and Carla Pons finished their flight in the third place game against Nikki Boyer and Paola Landin of Central Oklahoma. The Mavericks duo fell is a close 7-6 loss to finish their flight in fourth.
