Volleyball Wraps Up 2018 Regular Season At Home Against Texas State

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team will close out the regular season portion of the 2018 schedule this weekend at College Park Center. UTA will face Sun Belt Conference leader Texas State on Friday, Nov. 9. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. and UTA's Senior Day ceremony will take place following the match.

LAST TIME OUT | UTA VS. ARKANSAS STATE (NOV. 4)
The UT Arlington volleyball team picked up a much needed Sun Belt Conference win, defeating Arkansas State 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 4).

Zhanelle Geathers led all hitters with a match-high 11 kills to go with four blocks, a pair of digs and a .500 hitting percentage. Petra Manderson finished with eight kills and seven digs. Madison Hill tallied seven kills, five digs and three blocks, while Kylie Jedlicka recorded seven kills and 10 digs. Alex Janak led the Mavs in assists (23) and just missed a double-double with nine digs.

UTA IN THE SUN BELT RANKINGS
The Mavericks lead the Sun Belt in digs per set (16.23/set), while also ranking tied for second in the conference in opponents hitting percentage (.177).
Individually, Madison Hill, Alex Janak and Madelyn St. Germain lead the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.401), service aces (38) and digs per set (4.55), respectively. Bre Walp averages 1.04 blocks per set (83 total blocks) to rank 8th in the league, while Janak owns a 5.57 assists per set average to rank 10th in the conference.

SCOUTING TEXAS STATE
Texas State enters Friday's match having won 18 of their last 19 matches. The Bobcats are currently 23-6 overall and 14-1 in Sun Belt Conference action. Texas State recently claimed sole possession of the Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and will be the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Championship tournament Nov. 15-18 in Atlanta. 
The Bobcats moved up one spot to No. 20 in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll that was released Tuesday. TXST also ascended two spots to a school-record mark of No. 25 in the NCAA RPI that was issued Monday.
 
The VolleyballMag.com poll is a ranking of the top mid-major programs in the NCAA and is voted upon by 25 mid-major coaches across the country. The RPI (Ratings Performance Index) is a computer-generated ranking that takes into account numerous categories such as win/loss record, opponents' winning percentage and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents. The RPI is one of the strongest variables that go into the selection process for the 64-team postseason NCAA Championship tournament.
