HOUSTON – It's been a milestone trip for UT Arlington with the conclusion of a five-game road trip ending on Monday night against Houston. The 7 p.m. tipoff is just the second contest inside the new Fertitta Center.
The Lady Mavericks enter riding a three-game winning streak and are hoping to cap off a rare four-win, five-game trip in program history, last achieved during a Sun Belt run in 2016. Topping Oral Roberts in the last time out, UTA improved to 5-2 on the season with three games on the slate this week, including a home date with both UTSA on Thursday and USC on Friday. Houston enters with a 4-6 record,
Senior
Cierra Johnson continued to etch her name in the record books as she became the program's 19th member of the UTA 1,000-point club. Johnson needed the exact 24 points she reached against the Golden Eagles to achieve the feat as she poured in a season high. Next on the milestone list will be a turn to the defensive side as she is approaching the all-time steals list, needing just 19 to tie Allisa Gray's mark from 1984. With just two more steals, she'll enter the Sun Belt all-time top 10 list.
For the Lady Mavs to continue their strong road trip, they'll need to achieve something they haven't in the previous 10 tries, knocking off Houston. The Cougars have take each of the last 10 meeting, including coming back from a double-digit deficit at College Park Center last season.
