ARLINGTON, Texas -- Omar Salinas smacked a walk-off single up the middle in the 10th inning to lift UTA baseball to a 10-9 win over SFA to sweep a two-game series, on Monday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.
UTA (3-2) used a five-run sixth inning to erase a 3-1 hole and took a 9-5 lead into the ninth inning. After escaping with a one-run win on Sunday night in the opener of the two-game series, UTA couldn't complete the save in the ninth, as SFA scored four runs to force extra innings. The Mavs worked a shutout 10th inning and won it in the bottom of the frame as Salinas singled into centerfield to score RJ Williams, who reached on a one-out knock.
The win marks UTA's first extra-inning result of the year, coming in a modified weekend that was originally scheduled for Nacogdoches at SFA and was to include Southern Miss, Bradley and South Dakota State. With rain blanketing the area, UTA hosted SFA in a two-game series on Sunday and Monday.
